This tribute for PC John Taylor is a red granite marker with two polished faces with an identical inscription in gold letters and a rough-hewn edge.
The inscription records that the police constable fell near the site of the memorial on 23rd November 1986. He was fatally injured after having been pushed from the seventh floor of a building whilst attempting to arrest a suspected burglar.
The Staffordshire police force also honour the memory of PC by awarding an eponymous award annually to a serving officer or special constable to recognise an act of bravery, their outstanding contribution to the local community or a sporting achievement.
