Spode Rose Garden

Spode Rose Garden

Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom (GB)
This garden was first developed in the 1950’s as a beautiful outdoor space in the centre of Stoke where workers from the Spode Factory and local residents could relax.

By 2013 the garden was badly in need of attention and working together the AirSpace Gallery, the Friends of the Spode Garden and the local council renovated the garden as part of the celebrations for the British Ceramics Biennial.

The gardens design was inspired by the classic Spode plate patterns and this the main theme of the planting.

Set at the heart of the garden in a raised bed below a glass dome is ‘The Spode China Rose’ which is an exquisitely fashioned white bone-China rose.
