On Sunday 18th September 2022, Manuel HBDQM/P, a radio amateur from Switzerland reached the summit of Poncione Rosso and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 28 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF and the 40 and 20 metre HF amateur radio bands.

The summit of Poncione Rosso is 2506 metres (8228 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
