The Sulby Reservoir Dam was completed in 1982 and is operated by Manx Utilities. The reservoir is an impounding reservoir which supplies water to supply water to the nearby town of Ramsey. It replaced two earlier dams, lower down the west, north of the Island it also supplies water to the east coast in the Laxey area. Water can also be pumped to West Baldwin Reservoir to supply Douglas. It is the most recent and largest reservoir on the Isle of Man.

Water from the reservoir is also taken by a pipeline to the Sulby Hydroelectric Electric Power Station which is approximately 1.5 kilometres further downstream.

The dam is 73m in height and is formed from an earth embankment faced with stone on the water side. The reservoir behind the dam has a capacity of 4,832,000 cubic meters.
