Tammy Duckworth is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and is currently serving as the junior United States Senator for Illinois since 2017.
Senator Duckworth is the first Asian American woman elected to Congress in Illinois and is the second Thai Congressperson.
In the Iraq War, Senator Duckworth suffered combat wounds, resulting in the loss of both legs and damage to her right arm. She was the first female double-amputee in the war.
