Toyota Prius XW20

Toyota Prius XW20

Doylestown, Pennsylvania (PA), US
Introduced in 2003 for the 2004 model year, this was when Prius sales finally began to kick in. It had been redesigned into a mid-size Kammback sedan, in which it had became more aerodynamic with a drag coefficient of 0.26 thanks to the balance of length and wind resistance. Warranty was longer in states that have adopted the stricter California Emissions Standards; it was 150,000 miles or 10 years versus 100,000 miles or 8 years elsewhere. An industry first involving this car was that it cooled itself with an electric A/C compressor. Approximately 1,192,000 units were sold worldwide.
