The Serra do Facão Hydroelectric Plant was built on the São Marcos River, in the State of Goiás, between the municipalities of Catalão and Davinópolis. The filling of the reservoir began in November 2009, it entered into commercial operation in July 2010. It has the capacity to generate 210 megawatts of energy, enough to supply a city with 1.2 million inhabitants, from a maximum drop of 81 m[2]. Its maximum operational level is 756 m above sea level[1], while the minimum level is 732.50 m. The maximum flooded area is 218.84 km².
