On Tuesday 2nd April 2024 at 13:42 UTC, Jürgen ON3UA, a radio amateur from Belgium, made contact with Peter CT9/OO7Z/P, a radio amateur from Denmark, who was operating from Quinta Magnólia, on the 20m amateur radio band. Peter made a total of 95 contact while at the gardens.
Quinta Magnólia is located on Rua Dr. Pita in São Martinho on the Portuguese North Atlantic of island of Madeira. It was first established in the early nineteenth century and covers 3.5 hectares. The gardens are home to many species of exotic flora but are named for the Magnolia trees which it protects.
