One of Translink’s ExquiCity 18 vehicles which operates their cross city rapid transit services branded as “Gilder” (G1 & G2). These were inaugurated on 3 September 2018.


The Van Hool ExquiCity 18 (“Light Tram”) is an articulated bus which has an overall length of approximately 18m (59 feet). The buses have 3 entry/exit doors. The articulation is asymmetrical with the front section with 2 doors being longer than the rear section with a single door.

As with many ‘metro’ systems on the British mainland which operate modern trams there is a larger standing area than those usually found on convectional bus chassis in the UK and Ireland.

The ExquiCity 18 is a low emission bus rather than a full electric vehicle as it is powered by a diesel hybrid electrical engine.
