On Friday 5th April 2024 at 12:55 UTC, Luc ON2LVC, a radio amateur from Belgium , made contact with Manfred DF6EX, a radio amateur from Germany, who was operating from Waldnaabtal zwischen Tirschenreuth und Windisch-Eschenbach (DLFF-1169), on the 40m amateur radio band, using the callsign DR44WCA. Waldnaabtal zwischen Tirschenreuth und Windisch-Eschenbach (DLFF-1169), is a protected area of 2,623 hectares, located in the state of Bavaria to the north-east of Nurnberg, Germany. The area was designated as a Special Area of Conservation under the EU's Habitats Directive in 2016, prior to this, 175.51 hectares (Waldnaabtal), was designated as a Nature Reserve in 1950. This smaller area is an IUCN Management Category IV area.
