Yonaguni-jima is one of the Yaeyama Islands in the archipelago of Japanese islands. It is the most westerly inhabited island in the archipelago.
Yonaguni-jima lies between the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean proper approximately 108km (67 miles) east of Tiawan and 125km (78 miles) west of Ishigaki-jima.
