Yonaguni Airport (OGN)

Originally built as a military airport in 1943 Yonaguni Airport became a civilian airport in 1957.

Yonaguni-jima is one of the Yaeyama Islands in the archipelago of Japanese islands. It is the most westerly inhabited island in the archipelago.

Yonaguni-jima lies between the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean proper approximately 108km (67 miles) east of Tiawan and 125km (78 miles) west of Ishigaki-jima.

The island is home to the largest moth in the world – the Yonaguni Atlas and has a reputation for strong Sake, Marlin fishing and small horses,

Kaitel Iseki or Yonaguni Monument, claimed by some to be the remains of a Pacific Atlantis because of the resemblance to the steps of an underwater pyramid are drawer for the local dive schools. The scientific explanation is that Kaitel Iseki is the result of geological processes.
