Tehachapi Loop: kjfitz's Pics and Story (2/2)

You can see the edge of this loop from the Highway (far side of te picture) or you can get off the highway and drive up to an overlook with commemorative plaques. But even at the overlook it is difficult to see the whole plan of the loop. About 100 feet south of the overlook is a fairly well maintained but soft dirt path/road leading east which dead ends after a couple hundred feet. Above the dead end there are rock outcroppings you can climb to. from there the layout of the loop becomes obvious. Watch out for the wind up there though, it almost literally blew us off the mountain.
