Lynn Chadwick must have been knocking these out en masse! I came upon one a few years ago at Cabot Square in London's Docklands and another one, a couple of days ago, in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral. They all look to be about the same size but, possibly, made of different materials.
The body of the church was demolished in 1887 leaving just the tower and west wall to which modern offices have been added/attached. The tower is also incorporated into the offices.
Does he live at No 15 or No 16? It is not clear from the thumbnail but there are two attached houses. No 15 is the one at the corner and No 16 is the one to the south west. It is possible that he owns them both!
The south east Record Tower, with 4.6 metre thick walls, is the last intact medieval tower, not only of Dublin Castle but also in Dublin itself. It functioned as a high security prison and held native Irish hostages, such as Red Hugh O'Donnell who escaped in 1592, and priests in Tudor times.
Leinster House is the seat of the Irish Parliament. It was built as Kildare House between 1745 and 1747 to designs by Richard Cassels. The building was bought by the Irish Government in 1925. It is now the seat of both houses of the Irish Parliament – the Dail and the Senate.
On the north west bank of the River Thames is an Egyptian obelisk known as "Cleopatra's Needle". The obelisk, which is covered with hieroglyphs, was made in 1460BC and arrived in London in 1878.
The obelisk has nothing to do with Cleopatra and was carved for Pharoah Thotmes III. The Cleopatra connection came from the name of the vessel/barge used to transport the obelisk. The journey from Egypt to the UK was not without incident with six crew on the "Olga"...
Having noticed that there are two lightships in London I decided to investigate to see which one was which. The one in the Royal Victoria Dock is definitely "LV 93" and this one is definitely "LV 95". I have uploaded photos that clearly show the number "95" on the rear of the deck house. It has also had a new paint job.
The 'traffic light tree' is no longer at this location. It has been moved to the east to the roundabout at the eastern entrance to Billingsgate market.
Sadly, Gypsey Moth IV left Greenwich in 2004 after being sold for £1. She was restored to seagoing condition and did another trip around the globe in 2005.
Embankment station is the London Underground station that serves Charing Cross mainline station. Embankment station is just to the north of the rail bridge next to the (erm) embankment of the River Thames.
This "yacht hotel" left several years ago and is now, I think, in Gibraltar. A new "yacht hotel" arrived last year (2014) and is moored further to the west. The area where the old hotel used to be has been developed and is now a part of Excel.
