Clan Buchanan is one of the many Scottish clans whose origins are said to have come from the eastern shores of Loch Lomond.

Their burial ground is a small walled-in cemetery lying in a field outside the town of Callander. The cemetery sits on top of a small hill surrounded by a field filled with sheep and next to a small river. The cemetery walls are quite easy to see in the distance if one is standing on the old railway embankment outside Callander. The cemetery also has graves located outside the walls. The cemetery was also used by ordinary people and the clan members are buried within a small walled-in section of the cemetery - this wall is what one can see from the disused railway embankment. The only way the cemetery can be accessed is by finding a way onto the field and walking across it.
