Ole's Waffle Shop

Ole's Waffle Shop (StreetView)
Certain things have changed at Ole's Waffle Shop in Alameda since it opened in 1927, but not the waffles.

They're still made with the pancake recipe that original owner Ole Swanson developed, although the waffle irons aren't set up in the front window anymore.

You won't find exotic omelets or overloaded mochas on the menu here, but you will find a line of people down Park Street, ready to order Ole's home-style classics: pancakes, hash browns, bacon and eggs, and toast with plenty of butter. Coffee from the three-spigot Bunn-O-matic is served in thick diner mugs sporting a portly chef and Ole's name and address.
