Sphere Entertainment Complex

First-time visitors to Sphere marvel that this elegant and well-appointed entertainment complex was once the rather drab Pfeifer Theatre. Located in the city's theatre district, Sphere has been renovated to look as it did when it was the notorious club that stood on this spot -- Town Casino. Luckily for owners of the new club, Joe Guagliardo and Michael Slyder, when 'updates' were made at the Pfeifer, workers who installed the ultra-low mirrored ceilings carefully boxed in incredible architectural details, as if they knew that one day somebody would rediscover the gems underneath.

Sphere's front room, tiled with slate, is dominated by an ovular bar underneath a recessed ceiling detailed with gold leafing and geometric trim -- funky lighting fixtures are kept on romantic settings. Elevated seating along one wall is cozy and off this room is the Jazz Room, with comfortable seating and occasional live music. A rear wall is covered with showcases of fine wines and champagnes on either side of a subtle floor-to-ceiling fountain.

Sphere also features Atmosphere, an on-site space for fine dining. Package offerings are available for dinner theater events, which take place in the ample back room with its tiered vantage points and two full bars. The stage is one of the finest in the city and is able to accommodate entertainment of any genre. Atmosphere, deftly restored, attracts older and more moneyed customers who choose to avoid the neon lights of the nearby Chip Strip.
