A quick count. There are 52 items in the Government -> State category, and I count 17 that are not US State capitols. So that would leave 35 that we have, and thus 15 to go.
Not the same ship, but there is now a new cruise ship docked a little ways down the dock to the West. I've updated the link, and the thumbnail needs to be updated in the near future.
Since the sites (GS, GGT, and Perljam) began, maps have flowed back and forth. Things posted here get reposted there. Things posted there get reposted here. It all belongs to Google in the end. Nothing new happening today.
>>The real question is how many McD's are in hi-res...
I know a few years back they had something over 6,000 total, worldwide. Likely a bit more than that now. As for how many are in high res, I would think a lot. Likely at least 1-2 thousand, I would guess. They are all over the place, and are present in large numbers in a lot of large US cities, many of whic are in high res.
I was thinking that there might have been a road at the location of the bomb line, before the bombing, so that could explain what they were targeting. I have no good counter to your comment about the direction change, though. :)
It can if it's cut off by other images. We've seen plenty of other places where the images transition rather abruptly. The season changes are examples of similar "time stitching".
Looks to be still there in Google Maps. Are you using Google Earth to see it? That could be it, as there are definite time differences in many places between GM and GE.
LOL. The automatic category generation software strikes. :) If you look closely at your title, you can find the word "plane" hidden in there. That's where the airplane category came from.
Oh, Harvey, Harvey
Harvey the Wonder Hamster
He doesn't bite and he doesn't squeal
He just runs around on his hamster wheel
Harvey, Harvey
Harvey the Wonder Hamster
Hey, Harvey!
Comments have been closed off for this map. The discussion of whether this is or is not Bam's house has been going in circles for some time, getting nowhere. Between that and the fact that we still get people asking/begging for his address, comments on this map no longer really serve a useful purpose to the site. I'll leave the existing comments up, so people can see for themselves the arguments people have made to date in the "is it/isn't it his house" argument, but the entry is now closed...
I didn't make up anything. I found this item on another site, and they were calling it a devil ray there. Whether it is or is not a devil ray may be up for debate, but at the very least, I didn't make it up.
Could you post a link to the ship you beleive to be the Giuseppe Garibaldi? I'd like to compare them. Given the time differences in when pictures are taken, it's entirely possible for the same ship to show up twice in different locations. :)
The MGP web site I located to include in with the San Antonio location listed the San Antonio location (Malibu Castle) as the only MGP still in operation in Texas.
If you look to the East and Northeast, you'll see a couple of residential developments laid out in a similar land/sea arrangement. My guess this is a third development that never got finished.
Certainly looks like another example of the stuff to me.
Also interesting, from Google Sightseeing, is the following quote about the tape instances:
-------------------------------------------
they are all roughly the same angle because they are perpendicular to the orbit of the Landsat satellite, which have an inclination of around 98 degrees. Landsat has a mirror that sweeps from side to side to image the ground under the orbit. The data from one or more of these...
I would guess that it's a rocky shoal of some sort. There are a few more, similar, spots just to the northeast of the spot. Not impossible that it's a ship, but I'm doubtful.
Might or might not still be. Crop mazes are seasonal things. So just because there was a maze at this location with the last couple of years, doesn't mean it's still a maze now.
The thumbnail focuses a bit to the East of where the map centers. Still visible on the map, though. It's showing the edge of the white road structure just over the photo boundry.
Do check out the discussion in the More Info link. Just about every possibility is covered over on Google Sightseeing. It's definitely not something on the ground, because there are a bunch of them, and people have gone to the sites and confirmed that there's nothing like that there. It's either something in the air, something on/in the camera, or something introduced during the processing. I really don't think it's in the air, but I have no real idea whether it could be something (drop of...
Nope. They are maintained and kept for a variety of purposes. Spare parts for other ships. Sale to foreign nations. Weapons testing. (Take out a real ship to deep waters and see how a new weapon does against it.)
There's a several person staff at each of these sites, maintaining them. Sensors all over them to alert if the do start to rust or leak, etc. They are far from abandoned.
My guess is either a inflated figure of some sort or it's got nothing to do with a humanoid figure, it just happens to look like one from above. A floating dock with several lines sticking out, etc.
Ok. As I put in the comments when I posted the entry, I suspected that's what it was. I'll go ahead and label it as such until/unless I hear otherwise. :)
Not sure what you mean by "Same terrain tweice". What is duplicated is a moving object, another plane, not the terrain. In each case of a duplicated plane the plane was likely moving at a close enough speed to the picute taker (plane or satalite) for a short period of time. Same direction as well.
These are almost certainly shadows of that same plane. The plane can be seen three times total, and the shadow five times. The planes look identical, and planes don't take off *that* closely, even at busy airports. There are at least two other sequences of a single plane seen multiple times that have been found.
You originally submitted it as both, I beleive. At the least, submitting it with the thumbnail focused on the stadium draws the focus to the stadium.
Anyway, since we cannot change the thumbnail. could I get you to please submit a separate entry for the college itself, with a broader focused thumbnail?
As for the name, Memorial Stadium is a little too generic for the site. How about "Memorial Stadium at University of Nebraska".
Ok. I've pruned out all the old comments about Bam's address as well as a number of other old, garbage comments. I left only the one comment from MrSeaBass stateing he might give out the address if emailed.
People are still posting requests for the address every couple of days. Let me repeat. With the exception of discussion of whether the entry itself is correct, any comments on Bam's address, real or email, will be deleted as soon as I see them. This includes requests...
It does look like a CD to me. With a definite shadow. Hard to tell if it's something physically at that location, or sitting on the image when it was photographed. (Like the packing tape and post-it note picks.) One problem with the "On image" possibility is how far the shadow is from the "CD". It must be a bit above the image to generate a shadow like that, not sitting right on it.
OK. Enough is enough. Publically posting of private address crosses the line. This thread has been bothering me for a while, but I couldn't justify to myself shutting it down. Now I can.
After this point, any posts on the subject of Bam's address for any reason will be deleted.
The exception to this is discussion of whether the linked map actually shows his house. There appears to be some question whether this is the case, and discussion of that topic is free...
My guess is that, yes, they are related. This one fades out to the right in a similar way to how the more obvious Tape entries faded. (To the left it's cut off by a map edge.) The others were over darker forested areas, while this one is over bright desert. Maybe that accounts for why this one is much more washed out than the first two examples.
Extensive, and I do mean extensive, analysys of these "UFO"s has been going on at another G-maps site. There are a bunch in Florida, and another bunch in LA. The prevailing opinion appears to be that they are an artifact of some sort from the processing of the photos.

And we're still debating whether to add additional categories to moon entries, or to segregate them in the single Moon category to avoid confusion.
And the admission tool should accept moon links now.

Still not certain why that area was don in high resolution.

GMaps site tracking all remaining SR-71's. They have this one listed, with a little history. Entry SR-71A #61-7963 (CA) on the right of the page.

For another, similar, "Cable Cut".
The second is a close up focus on the "cracks" in the frozen side.
So they're focusing on different aspects of the situation on the lake. I'm inclined to leave them both.

The building is the La Villita Assembly Hall. La Villita is an area of shops and restaurants located on one of the first settled parts of San Antonio.
