The ring is a sculpture by the sculptor Mauro Staccioli. The diameter of the red ring is 12 meters, its weight is 14 tons. It is a gift of Stadtsparkasse Munich with a value of 102,000 €, and was built in 1996. It is located at the western end of the Old Botanical Garden.
