On Sunday 27th November 2022, Satoru JJ1RUI, a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Akazawayama and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 19 contacts in total working on the 70cm UHF and the 40 metre HF amateur radio bands.

The summit of Akazawayama is 1819 metres (5968 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.

Akazawayama is in the Saitama Prefecture on Honshu Island.
