A brass ball hangs over the intersection of state highways 50 and 83 in southeastern Wisconsin.
A farmer built an inn here in 1842 and hung a wooden ball gilded in gold in front of the building. The ball resembled brass, and this intersection soon became nicknamed Brass Ball Corners. Today, a Mobil gas station and Burger King restaurant stand where the inn was located. A replica brass ball has hung over the intersection for many years.
