This church is at northern end of the Rua José Rodrigues within the walled area of the Fortress Town of Valença do Minho in northern Portugal. It is mother church of the town.

Architecturally this church combines elements of Romanesque, neo-classical, late Baroque and revivalist styles.

The church dates from the 13th Century and the attached chapel opened in 1277.

Inside the church there are a number of magnificent polychrome carvings in neoclassical and Baroque style
