The Church of St Mary the Virgin in the village of Congerstone, is believed to date back to 1179, although most of the current building is 16th century. It is mainly constructed from Ashlar and has a low-pitched slate roof over the chancel. It is a Grade II* listed building,
Inside the church there is a monument by Sir George Frampton for Georgiana Countess Howe the first wife Richard Curzon, 4th Earl Howe.
The stained glass of the south-west window in the nave are in the style of Kempe and Co.
