On Saturday 30th March 2024 at 14:54 UTC, Guy ON3DWG, a radio amateur from Belgium made contact with Robert M0RWX/P, a radio amateur from Wiltshire, England who was operating from the Cotswolds NL (GFF-0248) on the 40m amateur radio band.
A National Landscape Area (NLA) is a region in England which is designated for its exceptional natural beauty, cultural significance, or historical importance. NLAs are protected and managed to preserve their unique character and promote sustainable use.
The Cotswolds National Landscape was established in 2004 and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Cotswold Hills are located in south-west England in the counties of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Bath & NE Somerset, Wiltshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
The area is managed to achieve the following objectives:
to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the area;
to increase enjoyment and understanding of its special qualities; and
to foster the economic and social well-being of local communities.
