On Saturday 30th March 2024 at 08:45 UTC, Ivo 9A1AA, a radio amateur from Croatia, made contact with Benni HB9HNT/P, a radio amateur from Switzerland, who was operating from Creux du Van, NE Part (HBFF-0033), on the 40m amateur radio band.
Creux du Van, NE Part (HBFF-0033), is a protected area of 1,412 hectares located in the Neuchâtel Canton, to the west of Bern in the west of Switzerland. It was designated in 1992 as a Federal Hunting Reserve and is an IUCN Management Category IV area. has reference number 1004 on the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments maintained by the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN).
An IUCN Management Category IV area is an area to protect particular species or habitats and are managed to prioritise this objective.
Benni was at the summit of Le Soliat (1464 metres asl) while he was at the reserve and made a total of 25 contacts for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
