Dariali Monastery Complex

Dariali Monastery Complex (StreetView)
The Dariali Monastery Complex is located in the Dariali Gorge in the high mountains of the Greater Caucasus. It is 10km from the small town of Stepantsminda and just 1km from the border with Russia.

The site of the complex is in a narrow canyon at the confluence of the river Tergi (Terek) and the river Khdi at an elevation of 1.3km asl.

Building work at the site began in 2005 and in 2011 the partially completed complex was opened by the Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia.

The complex includes a variety of buildings with the Church of the Archangels St. Michael and St. Gabriel as the main church. If the original plan is completed in full there will be 12 different churches within the complex.
