El Floridita is a historic cocktail bar and fish restaurant in the older part of Havana. The bar opened in 1817 as the "La Piña de Plata" (The Silver Pineapple). 100 years later tourists persuaded the owner to change the name to "El Florida". Another name for the establishment is "la cuna del daiquiri" (the cradle of the daiquiri) as bartender and future owner Constantino Ribalaigua Vert is credited to have invited the frozen daiquiri in the 1930's.

Ernest Hemingway was known to have frequented the bar and this quote was attributed to him: "My mojito in La Bodeguita, my daiquiri in El Floridita. A life-sized bronze statute of Hemingway rests in the corner of the bar.
