On Friday 29th March 2024 at 08:11 UTC, Fred DL8DXL, a radio amateur from Germany, made contact with Tim GW5OLD/P, a radio amateur from Bristol in south-west England, who was operating from the Eryri National Park (GWFF-0074), on the 40m amateur radio band.

Eryri National Park (GWFF-0074) is a protected area of 213,156 hectares in the north of Wales. The park covers 74 miles of coastline and 9 mountain ranges. It has 11,000 hectares of native woodland and over 2,400km of routes to explore.

Tim's contact with Fred was from the summit of Aran Fawddwy (GW/NW-007)(905 metres asl). Tim made a total of 29 contacts for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group from this summit.
