The former Egerton Church of England in Knutsford is a Grade II Listed Building.

The large red brick building has a welsh slate roof and terracotta dressings. The buildings was completed c.1880 and the original separate entrances for Boys and Girls can still clearly be seen. This arrangement was a common feature of late Victorian school buildings.

The close link to Chruch of England is emphasised by the positioning of the school building on the opposite side of church road from St. John’s Parish Church.

The Egerton family were owners of Tatton Park the large estate close to Knutsford from 1598 and over time it became the main home of a junior branch of the family. The school was named for Wilbraham Egerton, 1st Earl of Egerton (17 January 1832 – 16 March 1909) who was the town’s Member of Parliament from 1853 to 1883.
