On Sunday 20th August 2023, Brian W6BFT, a radio amateur from Crestline, CA reached the summit of Grandfather Mountain and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 10 contacts in total working on the 2m and 20m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Grandfather Mountain is 1818 metres (5965 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
