On Friday 26th May 2023, Manuel HB9DQM/P and Beni HB9HNT/P, two radio amateurs from Switzerland reached the summit of Gross Schärhorn and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 43 contacts in total working on the 2m and 20m amateur radio bands.

The summit of Gross Schärhorn is 3294 metres (10807 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
