On Tuesday 11th October 2022, Waka JG0AWE/O, a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Hakkenzan and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 46 contacts in total working on the 70cm UHF and the 40, 30, 20 and 15 metre HF amateur radio bands.
