On Monday 31st July 2023, Guenther OE5GFI/P, a radio amateur from Austria, reached the summit of Hanger and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 36 contacts in total working on the 2m, 40m and 20m amateur radio bands.

The summit of Hanger is 2472 metres (8110 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
