On Sunday 24th March 2024 at 07:10 UTC, Jacek SQ8ILJ, a radio amateur from Poland made contact with Estela EA4DE, a radio amateur from Spain who was operating from Humedal Embalse de Buendia (Buendía Reservoir Wetlands)(EAFF-2712) on the 20m amateur radio band.
Humedal Embalse de Buendia (Buendía Reservoir Wetlands)(EAFF-2712), is a protected area surrounding the Buendia Reservoir on the Guadiela River, located east of Madrid in Spain.
Flamingos have established a colony in the wetland area which is visited by many migratory birds including cranes and ducks. The wetlands is also home to a wide range of resident flora and fauna.
