On Monday 1st April 2024 at 09:03 UTC, Frank DL2EF, a radio amateur from Germany, made contact with Thomas DJ5RE/P, a radio amateur from Germany who was operating from Lauterachtal (DLFF-0912), on the 40m amateur radio band. Thomas made a total of 248 contacts while at the reserve.
Lauterachtal (DLFF-0912), is a protected area of 835 hectares lying south-east of the city of Nurnberg in Germany. It was designated in 2016 as a Special Area of Conservation under the EU's Habitats Directive and is part of the Natura 2000 network.
Natura 2000 aims to protect many of Europe's most vulnerable and threatened habitats and species.
