The Moxley family was very wealthy. The Moxley home was not a modest bungalow. It was a huge tutor style home with three floors and over 9,000 sq ft of living space.

This house may be larger, but Martha Moxley's house was by no means a modest bungalow. It was a fairly grand, 18-room, 2-story home in Belle Haven, one of the wealthiest suburbs in the country.

I lived in Belle Haven for nearly four years. As the other comments indicate, the Moxley home was hardly a “modest bungalow.” It was 8,000 plus square feet, not including the basement. Someone in the neighborhood told me that it contained roughly 22 rooms and spanned three stories. The architectural style of the house was somewhat muddled as it took cues from several different periods and styles of architecture. I think it would have been best described as an “English Arts and Crafts” style home.
