On Friday 7th October 2022, Matt JG1BOK, a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Onigatake and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 9 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF amateur radio band.
The summit of Onigatake is 1738 metres (5702 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
Onigatake is in Yamanashi Prefecture on Honshu Island.
