On Saturday 23rd March 2024 at 13:05 UTC, Mario DJ2MX, a radio amateur from Germany made contact with Tim CT7ASV/P, a radio amateur from Portugal who was operating from the summit of Serra da Rocha da Pena (480m asl), which is inside the Paisagem Protegida Local da Rocha da Pena (CTFF-0070) reserve, on the 10m amateur radio band. Tim made 30 contact in total while at the summit.
Paisagem Protegida Local da Rocha da Pena (CTFF-0070), is a protected area of 672 hectares located between the Barrocal and the Algarve mountains in southern Portugal. It was designated as a Local Protected Landscape in 1991 and is an IUCN Management Category III area.
An IUCN Management Category III area is set aside to protect a specific natural monument in this case the limestone cornice of Rocha da Pena.
