On Saturday 9th July 2022 Mario HB9HAT/P a radio amateur from Switzerland reached the summit of Piz Surlej and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 27 contacts in total working on the 70 cm UHF, 2 metre VHF and the 40, 20, 17 and 12 metre amateur radio bands.
The summit of Piz Surlej is 3188 metres (10459 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups database.
