On Sunday 28th August 2022, Manuel HB9DQM/P a radio amateur from Switzerland reached the summit of Piz Vatgira / Nordgipgel and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 60 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF and 40, 30 and 20 metre HF amateur radio bands.
