On Tuesday 26th March 2024 at 17:10 UTC, Lacy YO6CFB, a radio amateur from Romania, made contact with Jarkko OH6JUM/P, a radio amateur from Finland, who was operating from Rauman diapaasialue (OHFF-0242), on the 40m amateur radio band. Jarkko made a total of 176 contact while at the reserve.
Rauman diapaasialue (OHFF-0242), is a protected area of 76 hectares located north of Rauma in south-west Finland. It was designated in 2015 under the EU Special Areas of Conservation (Habitats Directive) and is part of the Natura 2000 network.
Natura 2000 aims to protect many of Europe's most vulnerable and threatened habitats and species.
