On Saturday 30th March 2024 at 11:19 UTC, Danny ON4VT, a radio amateur from Belgium, made contact with Jany LZ1GJ/P, a radio amateur from Bulgaria, who was operating from Rodopi – Zapadni (LZFF-0321), on the 20m amateur radio band.

Rodopi – Zapadni (LZFF-0321), is a protected area of 272,851 hectares in the Rodopi region of southern Bulgaria. It was designated in 2008 as a site of Community Importance under the EU Habitats directive and is part of the Natura 2000 network.

Natura 2000 aims to protect many of Europe's most vulnerable and threatened habitats and species.

Jany was at the summit of an unnamed summit at 1723 metres asl while he was at the reserve and made a total of 35 contacts for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
