On Saturday 23rd September 2023, Newton PY4NF, a radio amateur from Brazil, reached the summit of Serra do Alto da Bandeira and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 7 contacts in total working on the 6m and 40m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Serra do Alto da Bandeira is 1864 metres (6115 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
