When built in 1937 it was one of a batch of 67 double deck fully enclosed four-wheel improved standard class electric tramcars. These tramcars had a total seating capacity of 61 split 37 upper saloon and 24 lower saloon.

No. 264 as with most of Sheffield’s fleet had a trolley current collector rather than a pantograph. It was withdrawn from service in the Yorkshire town on 8 October 1960.
