On Monday 7th August 2023, Manuel HB9DQM/P, a radio amateur from Switzerland reached the summit of Torrone della Motta / Torent Basso and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 59 contacts in total working on the 2m, 40m, 30m and 20m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Torrone della Motta / Torent Basso is 2820 metres (9252 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
