The Wilson Avenue Crib is off the North Chicago waterfront, about three miles east southeast of Montrose Harbor. In Mike's photo, most of the light tower is hidden behind the brick structure of the crib. It appears that the light has been moved from the lantern room of the old lighthouse to a platform built atop the lantern. Although the crib and tower have a decrepit appearance, this is an active light. It displays a quick-flashing white light at a focal plane of 68 feet above the lake surface. There is also an automatic fog horn, which produces a blast every 20 seconds in foggy weather.
