Woodbury Castle

Woodbury Castle (StreetView)
Woodbury Castle is a noted example of a univallate hillfort.

The hillfort has a single raised bank surrounded a depression and a series of outworks and a cross dyke.

Hillforts of this type dated from the Iron Age and were used between 4th century BC and the 1st century AD.

Woodbury Castle has been subject to visitor erosion and has suffered from weathering and erosion of areas which have been previously excavated.

Woodbury Castle is listed by Historic England in their Heritage Category as a Scheduled Monument with List Entry Number 1003862.
