On Sunday 24th July 2022 Samuel OE6BID/P a radio amateur from Austria reached the summit of Zirbitzkogel and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 34 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VJHF and the 40, 20 and 15 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Zirbitzkogel is 2396 metres (7861 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups database.
