This lake was named for a former plutonium research laboratory which was located on its shore, until an accident terminated operation. The Appalachian Trail passes nearby. Read more in the links.

I saw this in Scouting NY, looked real close, looks like nothing left of the facility. Wonder what the water quality in this lake is? Go for a swim, perhaps?
