Nuclear Weapon Free Zone

Iowa City passed an ordinance in 1985 outlawing nuclear weapons facilities in the city. Part of the ordinance states that signs are posted on major roads near the city limits.

New signs were installed in 2010 after the city realized that the original signs were missing or vandalized.
